A beautiful bathroom is created by paying careful attention to the individual components that make up the room. One of the essential focal points of any bathroom is the bathroom sink. Three brands that offer a variety of options in bathroom sinks are American Standard, Kohler, and Porcher. The bathroom sinks offered by these brands come in a huge variety of styles, shapes, colors, and materials.

Bathroom sinks can be designed to sit on the counter-top like a bowl, be mounted from the wall, be mounted under the counter in the usual style, or be free-standing pedestals. The basin that catches the water from the faucet can be a huge number of different shapes from simple ovals to elaborate curves and unusual angular designs.

Almost any bathroom sink color is available from these three brands. Popular colors include traditional white or black, bright reds or yellows, soothing blues or greens, or elaborate drawings of flowers and mixed colors. Bathroom sinks can be made from clay, metal, wood, or glass to suit any style of bathroom.

American Standard bathroom sinks are affordable and traditional. Usually of simple design, these bathroom sinks don't stand out but blend gently into the surrounding room. Most of the sinks from this company are made of vitreous china and are only available in subdued dark colors or pastels. These bathroom sinks are reminiscent of turn-of-the-century designs and would look at home in any older building. There is some variety in the shape of the basins, including oval, round, square, rectangular, and scalloped or curving edges. Pedestal sinks and traditional basins sunk into the counter dominate the bathroom sink designs available from American Standard.

Kohler is a step up from American Standard in creative design and number of options, but also a step up in price. Simple and elegant, Kohler bathroom sinks are predominately vitreous china, but are also glass and metal. One design theme offered by Kohler bathroom sinks is the wading pool. These sinks are wide and shallow and come in a variety of shapes. Another theme is the vessels which are opposites of the wading pool; tall geometric shapes that sit on the counter-top. Vessels can be hexagonal, conical, or rectangles with sloping sides. There are several varieties of style, including counter-top basins, sunken basins, pedestals, and wall-mounted basins. Almost all Kohler bathroom sinks are available in a wide range of colors, except for metal bowls and basins with designs.

Porcher bathroom sinks are unique and offer a wide variety of styles, but are generally the most expensive of the three companies. Porcher bathroom sinks are decorative and can function as an artistic centerpiece to the room. These designs run high to glass and metal materials and have an elegant but unusual appearance. Cracked glass above-counter basins have a fragile appearance, while heftier glass bowls offer changes in color depending on the lighting. Cast bronze bathroom sinks boast a living finish that changes with use, time, and water. Wood and stone sinks are also available from this company. Porcher doesn't neglect having a selection of traditional simple china sinks along with the more elaborate varieties.

American Standard, Kohler, and Porcher all offer functional and attractive bathroom sinks. The sinks can be expensive and it's good to keep in mind that the cost doesn't include a faucet or installation. If price isn't a factor, options are countless as to style, shape, color, and material of a bathroom sink. An attractive bathroom sink can be an artistic focal point of a house and make a bathroom beautiful.
