Gone are the days when the bathroom used to be that generally small area of the house where very minimal features were found. It used to be a small sink, a functioning shower above, a portable toilet bowl, and a corner faucet were enough to consider the bathroom an area worth stepping into, when the need to clean up became necessary.

Today, modern bathrooms are generally luxurious, appropriately referred to at times as designer bathrooms. This is largely because they carry several designer bathroom accessories not previously featured in bathrooms of long ago. This has made this particular portion of the house rival the other areas generally considered vital when constructing a home, including the kitchen and the master bedroom.

Many people have the notion coming up with designer bathrooms is time-consuming and quite expensive. Actually, this may be partially accurate. However when one sees the bathroom as not just a cleaning area, but a place of relaxation, then the designer bathrooms will definitely be worth the cost and effort.

When thinking of settling on for designer bathrooms for the home, there are numerous bathroom designers available to aid in the process. There are many such designers now available largely because designer bathrooms have become a necessity for many people.

Of course, hiring professionals for designer bathrooms will entail added costs and naturally, this will not sit well with some people. In such cases, one can opt to come up with a personalized bathroom interior design to eventually create the cherished designer bathroom. Doing so need not be a daunting task, as there are many bathroom design ideas from a host of sources such as home magazines, lifestyle TV programs and the Internet.

Some design ideas are actually quite common and at times can be found in even simple designer bathrooms. Good examples of these are the bathroom countertops and customized cabinetry that replaced the plainly-made vanities featured in early bathroom models.

However, there are also several unique design ideas available that have made many designer bathrooms truly luxurious. For instance, there is now unique flooring with heating features, offering convenience for people to easily step out after a shower without having to endure stone-cold floor tiles.

Even simple bathroom accessories are now available in various sophisticated designs. The shower, for example, now comes in an electrically-based system where the water heats itself. Meanwhile, for designer bathrooms where water pressure is generally low, power showers are modern accessories that offer the perfect solution.

As for other bathroom accessories such as the faucets, choosing a suitable piece will largely depend on the designer bathrooms created. However, if the goal is to feature functional but decorative faucets, then there are such types presently available. They come in various models, including burnished iron, brushed nickel, pewter, polished brass, even solid gold.

Whatever design idea is eventually decided upon, designer bathrooms are fast becoming a favorite option among many homebuilders. This should be seen as a positive development because undoubtedly, designer bathrooms add elegance to any given home.
